A morning seminar for technical leaders on building the platforms and controls that automate SDLC Governance in regulated environments.

Many large organizations go through a similar experience when approaching SDLC Governance automation projects. Someone decides the manual processes can’t hold, a small team starts building, but the desired outcomes are elusive and harder to build than everyone thought.

This Control Group session looks at that this from several angles.

Erik Weber takes us through Norsk Tipping’s journey in one of Europe’s most tightly regulated sectors: where they started, what they got wrong, the options they weighed up, and where they’ve landed.

Gregor Hohpe steps back to consider the developer platform with fresh eyes, arguing that using them to turn institutional knowledge into executable services and APIs is more necessary than ever in the age of AI.

Jason Morris from Citi bank will also join us to share some of the lessons he has learned from working on SDLC Governance at scale inside one of the world’s largest financial institutions.

Session 2: Platforms as Sensemaking Devices
Developer platforms promised to defy the IT laws of physics: innovation through harmonization, speed without losing compliance, less cognitive load without restricting choice. Many teams learned the hard way that building one in-house is far from easy, and plenty ended up renaming existing IT services and were doomed from the start. Now we appear to be starting over, as platforms must serve agents alongside or instead of human developers. It’s a good moment to rethink what in-house platforms are really for: they mould institutional knowledge into executable services and APIs, and represent the organisation’s point of view on a fast-moving technology frontier. That makes them more necessary than ever.
