As AI accelerates software development and expands its scale, Deutsche Bank is taking a leading role in ensuring the technology can be adopted safely, securely, and responsibly across regulated industries.
As an investor, Deutsche Bank’s Corporate Venture Capital arm participated in Kosli’s Series A funding round, reinforcing the bank’s view that automated governance will be a key enabler of AI-assisted software delivery in regulated industries. The investment aligns with Deutsche Bank’s strategic vision and experience as a practitioner, helping accelerate innovation in an area critical to the future of financial services.
From a technology perspective, Deutsche Bank is automating software delivery governance by embedding controls directly into delivery pipelines. The bank is using Kosli to create a continuous, cryptographically secure, and auditable process from code commit to production. This shifts governance from a manual compliance activity to a scalable strategic capability for the AI era.
From a broader industry perspective, Deutsche Bank is helping shape the future of software governance through its engagement with Kosli. As part of the FINOS SDLC Controls Working Group, the bank is developing open standards that can be adopted across the financial services sector. These standards aim to make governance for AI-assisted software development transparent, consistent, and accessible to institutions of all sizes.
As Toby Weston, Distinguished Engineer at Deutsche Bank Technology, Data and Innovation, explained: “The governance challenge that AI-assisted development creates is not one any single institution should be solving alone.
Deutsche Bank believes that by working in the open, sharing what we’re learning, and building common standards together, we can raise the bar for the entire industry and make the financial system safer in the process.”
Mike Long, CEO and Co-Founder of Kosli, highlighted the significance of Deutsche Bank’s dual role: “There’s a meaningful difference between a working group that’s writing a framework and one that’s operating it.
Deutsche Bank is doing both. They’re running these controls in production while helping shape them, and that’s what gives this effort the credibility every regulated institution needs before they adopt it.”
Together, these initiatives show how Deutsche Bank is combining technology expertise, strategic investment, and industry collaboration to help build the governance infrastructure, standards, and ecosystem needed for the safe adoption of AI-assisted software delivery across financial services.
