Tell us a bit about Dan Grøndahl?
Father of two wonderful teenagers. Driven by curiosity and a slight FOMO, I enjoy exploring the intersection of technology and humans. Resides in Skanderborg, a small, nice city south of Aarhus, Denmark.
What were you doing before Kosli?
Fresh out of university in 2008, I initially planned to apply my knowledge to developing DSP algorithms for tiny, power- and CPU-limited devices. However, the financial crisis struck, and instead, I landed my first job developing embedded C-code, which haunted me for the next eight years.
My journey towards a DevOps path began in 2013 at a former employer. We were releasing our code via a messy SVN checkout, so I installed a Jenkins server, the first significant first step in that direction.
A focus on quality and doing things “right” eventually led me to Praqma, a small consultancy where I immediately felt at home. This was a turning point where many concepts, especially around CI/CD, containers, and orchestration, truly clicked for me. For the next five years, I consulted with clients on these topics.
In the last couple of years, I transitioned into Platform Engineering and before joining Kosli, I held the technical ownership of a large internal developer platform at my previous company.
What made you decide to come and work for Kosli?
Joining Kosli was incredibly fast, going from “Hi” to “Hired!” in just a single week. It just felt right: Getting the chance to work at a startup with a team of passionate people, many of whom I knew from my time at Praqma, was a no-brainer.
Kosli solves hard problems for regulated organizations: Automating compliance, enabling them to continuously ship quality software faster, and cutting out all the unnecessary back-and-forth.
That aligns perfectly with the promise of DevOps and my own experience and passion of working closely with our customers on that journey.
What do you like to do when you are not busy helping customers?
Spend time with my family! I especially love travelling around the world whenever possible.
I enjoy natural wine, craft beer, making pizza, reading books and playing music. Usually not all at the same time.
I’m also a metalhead, and you might spot me at concerts and festivals within the genre. Mostly at the back as I try to keep clear of the moshpit, getting a bit too old for that level of physical exertion!
